From shoebox to dossier in three steps
Drop in what you have
Snap a receipt or import spreadsheets and PDFs. Your phone reads the date, amount, vendor and items by itself — nothing is sent to third parties.
Review the draft
You check every record and correct what needs it. Whatever can't be read stays empty until you fill it in — no guessing.
Share the dossier
One PDF: the history by category, the documents attached, engine hours and deadlines. Send it to whoever needs it.
For today's maintenance,
for tomorrow's history.
You make the dossier whenever you need it: every new record goes into the next dossier you generate.
Engine hours
You log hours per engine. The count only goes forward, and a change of engine or meter stays on record.
Deadlines
Registration, technical inspection, insurance: the dates in one place, the nearest one on the boat's overview and in the dossier.
Timeline
Every new receipt or record lands on the timeline with its cost and category. The dossier is ready at any moment, and more complete each time.
The history goes with the boat.
Selling, or moving to a new phone? The whole history leaves as one file and arrives whole.
Hand-over file
"Hand over the boat" builds a single .barka file: the records, the attached documents, engine hours and deadlines. The new owner opens it in their own Barka and continues where you stopped.
Six languages
Croatian, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish. Receipts are read in each of them, and the dossier switches language with the app.
Kuna and euro
Croatian records from before the euro are converted at the fixed rate and shown with both figures, so the history stays comparable.
Documents, not stories
Every record in the dossier carries a mark saying what stands behind it. Two examples:
Whoever reads the dossier sees for themselves what is backed by a document and what is the owner's word. That's why a dossier is worth more than a handwritten service book.
A dossier is organized documentation, not a certificate. Barka is a record-keeping tool: it does not check or guarantee the accuracy of the records or the authenticity of the attached documents — a buyer checks the attached receipts, the papers and the hull number of the vessel. See the terms of use.
Barka for iPhone
Barka is free: one boat, the whole log, the dossier. No account, no server, no tracking — all app data stays on your device; details in the privacy statement.
- The app — every version 1.0 feature
- Six languages, terms and privacy statement
- Final pass on the boat
- TestFlight — closed beta
- App Store
What is free, and what is not
Barka is free: one boat, the whole log and the dossier cost nothing. The log itself — import, records, hours, deadlines — stays free; that is a rule. We charge for just two things you need less often: the moment a boat changes hands, and running several boats at once.
Free
One boat. Importing receipts and spreadsheets, records and corrections, engine hours per engine, deadlines, the timeline, all without limits. The dossier can be made three times per boat; at the bottom it carries a line saying it came from the free version. Handing a boat over is not included.
Pro · €19.99 a year
For selling, and for those with more than one boat. Handing the boat over to the new owner as one file with the whole history and the documents, and taking such a file over; the buyer needs Pro too. The dossier as often as you like, without the free-version line. Up to three boats.
Fleet · €49.99 a year
Everything in Pro, for up to ten boats. For a small charter, a broker or a marina that wants every boat with a tidy history.
Running more than ten boats, need the web, or several people on the same records? That we agree per boat, per year, directly: [email protected].
You pay through the App Store, once a year. The subscription renews by itself, you cancel it in iPhone Settings, and it runs until the end of the paid year. You see the price in the app, in your own currency. We do not see who bought, because we have neither accounts nor a server. If the subscription lapses, nothing is deleted: everything you entered stays yours to read. The boat within the free limit stays editable; boats above it wait, read-only, until Pro is back or you delete another boat.
